This NBA season James Harden won the Scoring title, and Russell Westbrook won the Assists title to become the 4th and 5th players in NBA history to win both a Scoring and an Assists title in their careers.  While last season each winning the opposite honors (Harden winning the Assist title, and Westbrook winning the Scoring title) they have joined an elite club.  Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Tiny Archibald are the only 3 other players with a scoring and assist title in their NBA career.  Robertson won both in the same season in 1967-68 and Archibald won both in 1972-73.

Neither Robertson nor Archibald won the MVP award in those respective years.  Oscar Robertson finished the ’67-’68 season with (29.2 / 6.0 / 9.7) points/rebounds/assist per game outdone by MVP Wilt Chamberlain’s (24.3 / 23.8 / 8.6).  Robertson finished 5th in voting behind Chamberlain, Lenny Wilkens, Elgin Baylor, and Dave Bing.  Tiny Archibald finished the ‘72-’73 season with (34.0 / 2.8 / 11.4) outdone that year by MVP Dave Cowens with (20.5 / 16.2 / 4.1).  Archibald finished 3rd in MVP voting behind Cowens and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.  Last season Russell Westbrook won the MVP award with James Harden finishing 2nd.  This season may see James Harden win his first MVP, with LeBron James and Westbrook also being serious contenders.
